Like the day pupils, the boarders have a busy and full day during the weekdays. The day begins at 7.15 am when the juniors wash and dress under supervision while the seniors prepare themselves for the day. Breakfast is a relaxed and communal event. The School day is the same for Boarders and Day pupils alike, with lessons, lunch and activities. When activities have finished pupils do their homework in supervised classrooms. After dinner the Juniors are prepared for bedtime while the Seniors finish their homework – the amount depending on their age. The children then relax in their rooms or common rooms and chat with the Houseparents and Boarding staff. An organised evening activity is also offered at this time. Bedtime is staggered according to age. The number of children in each room varies from one to four according to age.
On Fridays the weekly Boarders are free to leave from 4 pm onwards. Most return on Sunday evenings with a few on Monday mornings. By arrangement, the School can transport the children all or part of the way on Monday mornings.
