Welcome

A good School provides much more than just an academic curriculum and we encourage our pupils to involve themselves in as many extra curricular activities as possible. Active participation not only helps individuals develop important skills and interests but also gives them greater confidence in themselves and an understanding of the virtues of fair play and teamwork.

Team sports are an important vehicle of education and most popular sports are on offer including rugby, football, hockey, netball, cross country, basketball, tennis, badminton, cricket, athletics and rounders. In Cornwall, it is important that pupils can swim well from an early age and all Bolitho children receive weekly swimming lessons. In addition, minor sports such as fencing, sailing, surfing and juggling are enjoyed immensely by the pupils.

The School has a high reputation in Cornwall for the excellence of its music and many of the children take extra instrumental lessons. There are facilities for composition and recording. Concerts and recitals are regularly given by soloists, groups, the orchestra and the three choirs. The art department, too, is a highly popular venue for the children. The new pottery underlines the range of media that pupils can explore. Drama is seen as educationally important and the School regularly puts on plays and musicals. Other activities include chess, Warhammer, Green Thinkers and foreign exchanges.

There are many outings to concerts and plays, expeditions that involve camping and field trips, and a number of children participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or the Ten Tors expedition. The School organises a biennial family ski trip in the holidays which is open to children, parents and staff.
