Welcome

THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA COURSE

FOR THE STUDENT

The IB Diploma is recognised by all universities in the UK as well as Higher Education establishments in more than 50 countries worldwide.

It is widely documented that IB students are very well equipped for university study and are therefore more likely to obtain a good degree.

Studying six different subjects keeps the student’s career options open. The IB qualification is particularly appropriate for a number of careers, including Medicine, Law and Engineering.

FOR EMPLOYERS

IB students are seen as excellent potential employees by many companies who are looking for intelligent, flexible young people with the ability to speak a foreign language, a capacity to communicate easily with others and interests that extend beyond the confines of academic study.

WHAT THE UNIVERSITIES SAY

Increasingly, universities are actively encouraging IB students to apply to their institutions as many of the comments below point out:

“The London School of Economics regards the IB as one of the most useful qualifications that its students can have. We have been told by the IB Office that we have more students who have the IB qualification than any other university in the world and we find the students excellent in every way.”

Dr John Ashworth

Director, London School of Economics.

“I have great pleasure in writing to confirm the very high regard in which I hold the structure, the curriculum and the standards set by the International Baccalaureate. My colleagues and I are more than happy to admit students on the basis of appropriate IB results, and I hope very much that significant numbers of your older students will choose to continue their studies by this route.”

Professor Martin Harris CBE

Vice-Chancellor, The University of Manchester.

“The University of Nottingham welcomes applications from candidates offering the IB and greatly values the rigorous educational experience of IB students.”

Dr David Holdich

Assistant Dean of Science, The University of Nottingham.

“I find the International Baccalaureate and other European qualifications a good preparation for most subjects for the abler students now applying to Cambridge.”

Philip Ford

Chairman, Admissions Forum, Cambridge University.

“In fact very many admissions tutors would argue that the International Baccalaureate is superior to A-Level in that it offers both breadth as well as depth of study.”

Dr J Foreman

Senior Tutor, University College, London.
